Volkswagen's Caravalle minivan is on its way to South Tyrol again. The Memorial Fosson, the team competition for students and boys, was won for the fourth consecutive year by the Ski club Gardena, leading from the first day of competition, the only one that gave ... sun. Then winter returned to Pila, with snow, fog and cold temperatures. However, weather conditions did not spoil the big party, usually placed at the beginning of December and this year instead moved to the end of the season due to the health emergency. Gardena won the eleventh edition of Fosson with 12923 points, ahead of the Piedmontese of Sestriere (12226 points) and the Aosta Valley riders of Crammont Mont Blanc (10927 points). Fourth place for Gardena B (10192) and fifth for Val d''Ayas (10024). Regularly disputed, this time, the giant category Boys at a female level, also valid as the last test of the Energiapura Children Series. Success of Nadine Trocker of Seiser Alm (1''01 ”74), preceding Marta Giaretta of Falconeri Ski Team by 1” 35 and Anaïs Lustrissy (Crammont) by almost 3 seconds. Giant with value only for the Challenge instead for the male sector; the usual David Castlunger of the Alta Badia Ski Team (1''03 ”71) won over Lorenzo Rosaschino of La Thuile (32 cents) and Vittorio Santoro of Val d''Ayas, 49 cents off. Giulia Romele from Val Palot won the Allievi slalom, played with the traditional formula of the two heats. He finished in 1''38 ”63, settling Alice Pompei (Livata) by 25 cents and Giorgia Collomb of La Thuile by 55 cents. The men's race instead went to Hervé Quinson from Val d''Ayas (1''35 "31), ahead of Jacopo Claudani (Val Palot; 1''36" 03) and Manuel Adorni from Chamolé (1''36 " 50). “Our strength is the team because we have a rather high general level - the words of the Gardena winners - We have top athletes who win, but we are all competitive. Here at Fosson there is a different formula compared to the usual competitions, here team play counts and it is nice because we see the happiness of all the boys. This morning we also followed the competition, to see what results they were doing ”. Alina Sapinet, Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Aosta: "Despite the serious situation that has been accompanying us for over a year, as an Administration close to the organization of the event since the first edition that commemorates the young talent from Valle d'Aosta who died prematurely, we are happy that the Fosson Memorial this year could be held albeit in a reduced form and without all the corollary of events that made it a celebration of aspiring ski champions from all over Italy and beyond. One of the most serious consequences that the pandemic has brought with it is precisely the loss of the dimension of sociality and conviviality, so important for young people who are shaping their personality also through comparison and knowledge with others. The hope is that the difficulties we are experiencing can soon be left behind, and to be able to celebrate the arrival of the athletes with their companions in Piazza Chanoux in Aosta for the new appointment of the Trophy this time. with the complete program and the return of the Valle d'Aosta capital as a center of extrascist activities ". Massimo Raffaelli, president of the Aosta Ski club, organizer of the event, concluded: “We are happy with these three days in Pila which have closed a truly complex season. A nice way to end, with the hope that soon we can return to talk about normality. We changed the period, but the enthusiasm was the same as always, with many new ski clubs that got to know the event for the first time. The health emergency has inevitably forced us to make some changes compared to the past, but thanks to the collaboration of all we can say that another great edition is going to be archived. This is also thanks to all the staff who worked on the slopes and in the secretariat, an extended staff with friends of the Pila ski club who gave us great support and whom I thank from the heart ”.
