On Tuesday 25 May, in the Aula Magna of the Accademia della Guardia di Finanza, in the presence of the Commander, Gen. B. Bonifacio Bertetti, a meeting took place between the Official Students of the Bergamo Academy and Sofia Goggia. The Orobic champion, belonging to the V Nucleo Atleti di Predazzo (TN) of the Sporting Group of the Fiamme Gialle, retraced the salient phases of her sports career, also recounting the difficulties encountered and overcome brilliantly thanks to her extraordinary willpower.
In this sense, the thread of the meeting was knotted around the words "Experience, resilience and leadership", which well summarize the character Sofia Goggia, an exceptional "Yellow Flame" who has always emerged strengthened by the many injuries of which she is been a victim. The Sofia Goggia of today, in fact, is not only a top skier known and appreciated all over the world, but she is also a very popular leader on social networks and a source of inspiration for many people, not just athletes. An authentic character, never banal, who grew up thanks to everything that struck her, strong not only in her body but also in her soul.
A soul in which the heraldic motto of the Guardia di Finanza “Nec Recisa Recedit” is deeply rooted, which has always made its own and which never fails to pronounce, remembering - remembering - that you must never give up. The representation of Official Allievi present in the Aula Magna, and all the others connected by videoconference to comply with the current anti-contagion regulations, listened with great interest to the story of Sofia Goggia in a meeting-lesson which, in addition to constituting a piece of training academic, will certainly be a source of inspiration. In this period of recovery for our country, Sofia did not want to forget the dark days faced by her Bergamo in the most acute phase of the pandemic, when even for her, used to competing at over 120 km / h, it was necessary to brake - lower the pace - for the good and health of all.
Bergamo is in the heart of Sofia but it is also screen-printed on the back of her helmet, where the skyline of “Città Alta” appears. A gesture that says it all about the attachment of the Goggia to its land. In the final part of the meeting, within which there was no lack of questions from the attentive audience, the yellow-green athlete awarded the Allievi Officers most distinguished in the winter competitions that they concluded, in the last month of February, the exercises in a mountain environment in the locality of Passo Rolle, at the Alpine School.
