The 2019/2020 season saw the blue sprinter literally reborn, after an ordeal that began in 2017, just when his maturity seemed to be complete; the first success in the World Cup, obtained on January 25 on the day of the magical all-Italian hat-trick in the second descent of Bansko, when Elena overtook Marta Bassino and Federica Brignone, may have changed the story of an athlete who, at only 20 years, she had been able to conquer the junior world title in "her" super-g, immediately touching the medal at a senior level in the 2011 Garmisch world championship.
At the press office of the FIS house, the Valtellinese spoke about the last weeks between lockdown and restart on skis, but also and above all of the future goals. "The approach to the Stelvio was strange but beautiful, I immediately felt that feeling of freedom that our sport can give you - explained Elena about the blue rally in June - I was a bit worried about the situation related to the pandemic, but everything was handled in the best way and we went back to our normal life. An immense satisfaction, arrived after the 4th place of the previous day that had already taken a weight off my shoulders; the success on Saturday was in fact only the confirmation that the work done to return to my levels had been the right one. After two years full of problems and injuries, I was finally there. And now I can have fun ... ".
The next season will have the World Championships in Cortina at the center of attention: “I am thrilled by the confirmation of an event for which the organization has done an enormous job. It will be exciting and Cortina is one of my favorite places, also because on the Olympia delle Tofane I immediately won the placings necessary to qualify for the Garmisch 2011 World Cup. With a team so strong as our national team is currently, it will be fantastic to play medals at home.
Personally, it is a crucial moment in my career and it would be extraordinary to be able to achieve a great result there; first I will have to qualify, then I will try to fight for a medal. More generally, I look for continuity in my disciplines throughout the season, it will be the one that makes the difference ".
