Double fourth place for Jessica Malsiner in Einsiedeln: Ping Zeng scores a brace in Switzerland

Ski jumping: the athlete from Gardena starred in the Intercontinental Cup event dominated by the Chinese talent born in 2005. Next weekend, the Grand Prix resumes in Rasnov.

On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September, the top summer ski jumping circuit will return to the spotlight with the next Grand Prix event, more than a month after the opening events in Poland and France. The competition will be held in Rasnov, with four Italians competing on the small hill at the Romanian venue.

In Einsiedeln, meanwhile, an Intercontinental Cup event was held on the Swiss Large Hill, with an excellent Jessica Malsiner taking two fourth places. China’s 2005-born Ping Zeng scored a brace, winning the first event by almost 24 points over Slovenia’s Maja Kovacic and by 37.4 over compatriot Qi Liu, while the athlete from Gardena narrowly missed the podium, finishing just 2.6 points behind (with Martina Ambrosi 16th, Noelia Vuerich 29th and Leonie Runggaldier 39th). In Sunday’s repeat, the Asian athlete defeated Slovakia’s Kira Maria Kapustikova by almost 19 points, with Kovacic third, more than 28 points behind.

This time, Malsiner came even closer to the top three, trailing the Slovenian by 1.1 points, while Ambrosi matched her previous result in 16th place, ahead of Vuerich in 30th and Runggaldier, who finished 42nd.
