The provisional calendar of the Women's World Cup: the Italian stages between Cortina and Kronplatz

From the giant of Soelden on 23 October to the finals in Courchevel Méribel, with the return of Lenzerheide in the "classic" calendar.

The women's calendar of the next World Cup navigates, as well as for the men's sector, on the razor's edge of a situation that is still evolving, considering that it could change substantially with the sacrifice of combined and parallels. In any case, it will start on October 23 with the classic giant on Soelden's Rettenbach, then three weeks later there is the question mark linked to the parallel that will precede the Levi slalom by seven days, scheduled for November 20 after the "Double" disputed exceptionally in 2020. Then here is the double overseas stage: November 27-28 with two technical races in the States, even if the location of Killington must be confirmed, from December 3 to 5 the first two descents of the season in Lake Louise followed by the super-g on the Canadian track. Sankt Moritz does not move from the dates of the second weekend of December: on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 the super-g in the Engadine and, without prejudice to the usual doubt, the confirmation of the parallel that had already been there in the past years. Val d''Isère, which in recent years has had to struggle more with the weather than with Covid, will have descent and combined on 18-19 December, then the French series will end in Courchevel with giant and parallel (or slalom) on the Stade Emile-Allais. On 28-29 of the month the last two races of the year, as always giant and slalom on Austrian snow with the alternation between Semmering, which hosted the tests (even if the giant was canceled after the 1st heat due to wind ) last season, and Lienz. Davos, if the parallel of the first day of the year is confirmed, will open a January with slalom in Zagreb on the 4th, giant and slalom in Maribor (provided there is snow, with Kranjska Gora taking over in the last two editions ...) on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9, until finally returning to speed with Zauchensee which is back on the calendar, between downhill and combined (played in January 2020, when Brignone won) on 15 and 16, and Austria which will host the now classic slalom at night in Flachau, Tuesday 18 January. The only Italian stages of the World Cup, awaiting the return to the calendar of Sestriere, will be those of Cortina, which had to give it up in the last two seasons between the canceled finals and the World Cup, with downhill and super-g on the Olympia delle Tofane on January 22 and 23, and Kronplatz with a spectacular giant like the one on the "Erta", Tuesday 25. The last appointment before the Beijing Olympics, will be staged on 29 and 30 of the month with descent and super-g in Garmisch- Partenkirchen. On the other hand, there will be a lot of Switzerland in the post-Games, for the grand cup final: on February 26-27 downhill and combined (with the possibility of becoming a super-g) in Crans-Montana, on March 5-6 the technical competitions of Lenzerheide , which is part of the “classic” calendar after having hosted the last finals, again giant and slalom on the Swedish snows of Are on 12-13 before the finals in Courchevel Méribel, from 16 to 20 March.
