Yes, apparently Anna Veith will retire from the competition, announcing the farewell to skiing by the end of May, more likely already next week.
This is what the "Kronen Zeitung" anticipates on its website, through a very authoritative source and very close to the events of the Austrian athletes (it was also in the days before the retreat of Marcel Hirscher) like that of Alex Hofstetter who, together with his colleague Peter Fraunhofer, reported this afternoon with the certainty that Anna will not appear in training with (ex) teammates in the first meeting scheduled on the Kaunertal glacier.
A decision that would come mainly for personal reasons, wanting to dedicate herself to the family together with her husband Manuel Veith with whom she manages the ARX hotel in Rohrmoos, Styria, but which is also linked to the uncertainties due to the Coronavirus situation and above all to accidents ( the last to the crusader in January 2019, in training in Pozza di Fassa) which have influenced the last five seasons of a career that, until 2015, had been extraordinary with two consecutive World Cups, the Olympic super title g in Sochi 2014 (with a touch on bis at PyeongChang) and the gold brace in the World Championships in Beaver Creek.
At just 30 years of age, a splendid page of skiing is about to close: only officialism is missing.
