The Bergamo-born is trying to forge ahead for a sensational return to the descent of the finals and defense of "her" cup. The next visit and a possible ski test in Livigno will tell us if, in a week, Sofia will be able to register for the first test on March 15th.

The rumors have been chasing each other for a couple of days now and the person concerned, via social media, has added some other clues with the first runs on the treadmill.
It is no longer possible to exclude a priori the possibility that Sofia Goggia will present herself at the starting gate of the descent at the World Cup finals in Lenzerheide, with the sole objective of saving that crystal ball (it would be her second in the discipline after that won in 2018) which already seemed his before the incredible injury of last January 31 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. 35 days have passed and, everyone knows it very well, it would take 60-70 to get back in full shape after a fracture to the lateral tibial plateau of the right knee like the one suffered by the Bergamo champion.
The idea, with Sofia herself who has reiterated it several times, was to get back on skis in late April for some tests on the materials and not having to start from scratch in the summer preparation. After what we saw in Val di Fassa, with Lara Gut-Behrami and Corinne Suter who kept all the games open, putting in great danger a trophy to which the Olympic champion cares a lot, here is that Goggia has seriously thought about trying, also because the physiotherapy work carried out by moving from Bergamo to Mantua every day has given very good results.
Let me be clear, there are still several obstacles, from the next check-up visit (the last one at the La Madonnina clinic in Milan was carried out on February 24th, ed), to the possible ski test before next weekend, on the snow of Livigno. The first test of the Lenzerheide descent is scheduled for Monday 15 March, now in just over a week, with the race on Wednesday 17. A race in which it would be enough for Suter not to finish in the first two positions and for Gut-Behrami not to win it, but Sofia Goggia does not want her fate to be decided by someone else. She will do everything to address it herself.
