We had a chat with Manuela Moelgg, who in recent days announced that she will soon become a mother, in view of the giant that will take place on her home track, the Erta.

Manuela Moelgg, former blue of the slalom and giant team, hostess in San Vigilio di Marebbe, told Neveitalia her impressions on the next race between the wide doors that will be held on January 26th at the Kronplatz on the Erta slope.
How is the organization of the race proceeding also considering the problems related to the covid?
The organization of the race is progressing very well. A few days ago various athletes came to train including Wendy Holdener, Mikaela Shiffrin and Tessa Worley. They were satisfied with the conditions they found, the Erta was well prepared, they were able to train from top to bottom and this is an advantage especially for having been able to ski on the final part. The track will be barred and on Sunday they will wet it as snow is expected in the coming days. They also put the networks and will do a test for the music and for the speaker to the microphone. A video will also be released soon where the race organizers and I try to raise awareness and we recommend cheering from home to avoid gatherings and ensure the safety of the athletes given the problems related to covid.
What are the difficulties of Erta?
The track varies a lot. At the top there is a half slope which then leads to a level. There will be various bumps to follow and work well, after which you enter the tough wall, the steepest one. The difference is made in the last part of the track, which in the second heat will be in the shade, where you have to let go of your skis as Mikaela Shiffrin, Federica Brignone and Marta Bassino did in recent years.
Marta Bassino is the star of the giant. How do you see it on the Erta?
Marta Bassino comes from four victories, she will be super convinced, she already knows she is the best at the start and in addition she has good memories on this track because she made two podiums. She likes this track and it's very strong right now. With his technique on this slope he can go fast. We saw that even on difficult tracks like Kraniska Gora he won with a big advantage.
What are the characteristics that make Marta Bassino a winner?
Marta has a good foot. He is able to let go of the ski, he doesn't have to "hold" to want to get to the bottom. He doesn't even have to think about it, he just naturally does. This is a feature he has always had since the first year he joined the team. In addition, now it is safe even in the upper part, it never enters from behind as sometimes it can happen for example to Sofia Goggia with the risk of going out. Marta is very safe on skis.
Federica Brignone on the Erta got a victory ...
Federica also likes this track a lot where she won in 2017- I think the snow suits her more unlike Kranjska Gora. He just has to believe it, I'm sure he can have a good race on the Erta. She also has good memories here and the snow is a little easier. It's not like Kranjska Gora which was freezing and you had to go to the limit to make a good time.
A prediction: who do you see on the podium?
Certainly Marta Bassino. And I think Federica could go there too because she is among the best athletes and is very good when she attacks. The third athlete on the podium could be Mikaela Shiffrin or Michella Gisin. It doesn't seem like a very suitable track for Petra Vlhova, but I could also be wrong.
