Peter Gerdol lived a first year as chief race director of the women's World Cup to say the least complicated, "I hope that the next one will be better", he smiled speaking this morning after the cancellation of the La Thuile alpine combined.
The Tarvisian explained that, after the heavy snowfall of the night, there were no chances to compete. “It was impossible to bring home the race, with 50 cm of fresh snow at the start and 30-40 at the arrival. The organization has done a huge job, the track was perfect at the beginning of the week, but I think that in any part of the world it would not have been possible to prepare everything again with these quantities of snow, considering also the fall in recent days ".
Seven races remain on the calendar, with the doubts related to the dispute mode of the Cortina finals, but for now at FIS nothing changes: "We depend on the health authorities, there is talk of the possibility of competing without the public or with limited access, as here in La Thuile where the situation has been managed better and could serve as an example in this regard.
Are? Snow control will be on Tuesday and everything should be ok for the races scheduled for March 12-14 ".
