A case in some ways unique, if we think that the world reference skier in women's alpine skiing has decided to leave her federation in the heart of a competitive season.
What happens in Slovakia? This is explained by "pravda.sk", with a multi-episode analysis of a situation that sees the champion at the head of the World Cup, symbol of a clear and clear choice, also because Petra herself has never had support, primarily from financial point of view but not only, putting in full over the years that Team Vlhova (all at his expense), largely of Italian origin with Livio Magoni at the head of the technical staff, who has achieved extraordinary results.
It therefore happens that Vlhova, together with 1300 other people including representatives and members of 46 different ski clubs, said goodbye to the Slovak Ski Association (SLA), until now recognized by the Ministry of Education as a national sports association. A new entity was therefore created, called ZSL, supported by the same ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport and which intends to remove the status of national sports association from the SLA, of which, however, the snowboarders and a cross-country skiing section.
The alpine skiing sector is the beating heart of the new ZSL, but it is clear that the situation is very delicate and Igor Vlhova himself, Petra's father, spoke about it to the Slovak media: "For the past 12 years we have been discussing and worrying of this situation, so I told our minister that it is easier to build a new company than to rebuild an old one - his words - Petra becomes part of this new union which, to tell the truth, convinced me only after a first moment ; they have a vision and a desire to work with young people.
No, I am not afraid that ALS will cause problems for Petra, because it is in the interest of the state to make things better for everyone ”. In a statement issued a few hours ago, the same national association has erected a real wall, declaring it does not want to give up and, referring to the ZSL and the athletes, reported that "what they promise will never be realized".
And so, perhaps the war has just begun, although the Slovak Republic itself will have to settle the issue.
