The sprinter Swiss Martina Schild, 31, Olympic silver medal in downhill at the 2006 Turin Games, has decided to retire from racing. Difficult decision, taken after missing the entire last season due to a herniated disc.

Martina had already jumped the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010, Canada, and broke the cruciate ligaments of the knee after a bad fall in St. Moritz, just before the last races of the exhibition at Five Rings, as happened to our Nadia Fanchini. In 2006, in San Sicario, he won the silver medal in downhill behind the Austrian Michaela Dorfmeister. On 2 December 2007, however, in Lake Louise, had reached his only win in the World Cup, in super-G, which are added two more podiums, always in super-G, two third places in Reiteralm and Haus, and bronze at the 2001 World Jr., still in super-G.
