These would have been the eight Swedes competing on Saturday and Sunday on the “Levi Black”, for the two opening slaloms of the World Cup. Now, however, the official confirmation has arrived that the Scandinavian team, among the most competitive for the traditional specialty opening, obviously with Swenn-Larsson spearhead of the team, will not be able to take part in Levi's two races; the Finnish health authorities, in fact, have decided to quarantine the entire Swedish team for seven days, after the positive case of Covid-19 that emerged on Wednesday evening and related to the manager in charge Christian Thoma.
The second test of the South Tyrolean technician was also positive and the protocol was triggered according to which, according to Finnish law, a precautionary isolation of one week was needed. "It's shocking, even though we were aware that it could happen - said the director of alpine skiing in Sweden, Tommy Eliasson Winter - I would not have thought it would have gone this way, but we have deep respect for the decisions of the authorities and we accept them, aware of the risks of this situation ”.
In these hours, we are discussing whether to allow at least the athletes to spend the quarantine at home rather than directly in Levi: in any case, even participation in the parallel of Lech, scheduled for next Thursday, is substantially excluded.
