Alex Vinatzer: "This summer I have improved a lot. I expect a lot from Levi's slalom"

The blue slaomist Alex Vnatzer tells Neveitalia before the start of his new World Cup season.

How did your workouts go this summer? We did the meetings at Stelvio and Ushuaia. They went well, we always had good conditions. We did a good slalom training and also a giant one for the European Cup races. In the World Cup I don't know if I will play giant races, it depends on how the European Cup races will go. Levi's track is the track where you made your debut in the World Cup two years ago. Do you like it as a track? It is not a track to be underestimated. The first piece is easy, here we must already have a good time. Then there is the entrance to the wall and the wall that has its reason. We must also try to attack here. It can be done well, it could be a track that is quite suitable for my characteristics. I have no preference for the slopes, but the Levi track is a track that I like. At Levi you will start in the top 30, what do you expect from this race? I will try to start strong immediately. I have clear ideas, I want to enter the top 10. I have improved a lot during the summer in so many ways. I expect a lot from this race. I will try to make a good first run and then attack in the second one. This year there are no important events like the Olympics and the World Cup. What are your goals for this season? I would like to enter the top 15 of WCSL. I will have to have more solidity and ski better than last year. In my opinion, if I can start strong in the first few races, I can do it. This year the discipline of the parallel has been included in the calendar as a specialty in itself. What do you think about it? It is a discipline that I like because I go strong enough in the parallel. The problem is that the parallel slalom that was last year canceled it. This season there will be only two parallel giants. Maybe next year ... In the race, you lived little the era of a great champion like Marcel Hirscher. Were you able to learn anything from him? Yes, I learned both watching it on the track and watching it on TV years before. It was a point of reference for everyone. I'm very sorry that he retired because at least in one race I wanted to beat him. I will never say "I beat Marcel Hirscher". You are a very young athlete, representing the future of the Italian slalom. What are your points in your career? I have dreams in my drawer. I will try to improve year by year, to win and to bring home as many trophies and medals as possible.
