The great appointment of the Hahnenkamm Trophy, scheduled from 22 to 24 January 2021, will be "empty" for the first time. Michael Huber confirmed this at the ORF.

All the great classics of January (while in Italy and France you could compete with a minimum presence of spectators) without an audience? At this point it seems so, given that after Switzerland, which announced the "no" to the presence of people for the risks related to economic damage in the event of cancellation close to the races, confirmation has arrived from the organizing committee of Kitzbuehel.
The empty temple is already a certainty, almost four months after the triptych of the Hahnenkamm Trophy, scheduled with super-g, downhill and slalom from 22 to 24 January 2021; the races are confirmed, but the president of the Kitzbueheler Skiclub, Michael Huber, explained in an interview granted to ORF, on Wednesday evening, the choice already made. "We are happy to have kept the original Hahnenkamm racing schedule, but the financial risk is huge as you can insure yourself against the weather, cancellations or similar factors, but not against a pandemic."
The budget has been cut by about a third and, in spite of the other stages, Kitzbuehel will have different specialty races in the same place thanks to the different hotel accommodation of the athletes, with the sprinters based in Kitz and the slalomists between Kirchberg, Reith and Oberndorf.
The special evening awards ceremony (as well as obviously the public bib draw), unique of its kind, and all collateral events have been canceled, as well as the European Cup runs, the midweek Junior Race and the Kitz Charity Trophy have been postponed directly to 2022 which takes place on the day of the queen race, the Saturday descent on the Streif. A Streif that will be spooky, but always scary.
