Carlo Janka had announced a long time ago that he also tried this year to take part in at least the 2019/2020 World Cup speed races, despite all the injuries that undermined his performance.
The bad news, however, comes from the Zermatt glacier where the 33-year-old red-cross was training in preparation for the first commitments of the new season, starting with the quick rehearsals at the end of November in Lake Louise; Janka, who had become a father a few weeks ago, stopped training due to back pain.
Not a sudden problem, far from it, given that the winner of the 2009/2010 crystal ball has been suffering from this problem for some time; a lot of work is expected now in the rehabilitation and load management phase at an athletic level, but certainly the year is just around the corner again for the last Swiss capable of winning the World Cup.
