Therefore the classic Men's World Cup slalom on the Miramonti Canal will take place regularly on Saturday 22 December. It will be the 36th time that will be played this race that appeared in the Cup calendar since the first edition of 1967. It will instead be the tenth time that will be played at night, the first was in 1999. The two heats were two hours ahead of the last years and will therefore be staged at 15.45 and 18.45.
There were nine Italian victories in races valid for the World Cup on the legendary Trentino track: Gustav Thöni (twice) in 1971 and 1972, Piero Gros in 1972, Fausto Radici in 1976, the year in which there was a hat trick with Gros and Thöni, Ivano Edalini in 1986, Alberto Tomba (three times) in 1987, 1988 and 1995 and Giorgio Rocca in 2005. The last podium was Stefano Gross's third place in 2016.
