The super-g of Kitzbuehel has again shuffled the cards of the World Cup rankings, both at the general and specialty level. In the latter case, today's second place gave Matthias Mayer the red bib number of leader already worn after the victory of Lake Louise and the third place of Beaver Creek, while in the case of the overall a great chance is offered for the same Carinthian, but especially for Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
A 13th place tomorrow would be enough for the Norwegian, in the descent on the Streif, to hook Henrik Kristoffersen to the top, but it is clear that by thinking more in perspective, AAK becomes an increasingly weight factor in this very uncertain struggle for the absolute crystal ball, which however, he still sees Alexis Pinturault in full tussle, who today took 29 points but will play almost everything between Sunday and Tuesday, in the two key slaloms in Kitz and Schladming.
On the great day of Mattia Casse, 5th at the finish, there is a bad luck: with the points (45) collected today, the Piedmontese rose to 11th place in the super-g WCSL, which means tenth with the absence until the end of the season of Dominik Paris. Ergo, in the next super-g scheduled (February 16 in Yanqing, provided that he competes in China ... otherwise Hinterstoder at the end of February) Mattia will start 99% with the bib number 1, having the last choice among the top 10 in the world.
