The German federsci asks for an extension to answer the FIS about Stefan Luitz's will to disqualify

The German Federsci has officially requested an extension of the International Ski Federation to respond to the planned disqualification of Stefan Luitz.

From the "House of the Ski" in Planegg, near Munich, it was learned that one asked for this extension, because with the numerous commitments of Luitz in the World Cup in the last two weeks, it was not possible to deal comprehensively and in detail the topic. All this has been confirmed by the FIS. Since the German athletes have been supplied with oxygen before and between the two heats of the giant of Beaver Creek the FIS has threatened Luitz to disqualify from that race. Although the head of German Alpine skiing Wolfgang Maier recognized an error, he firmly rejected the suspicion of having deliberately violated the regulations of the FIS: "We have not made any violation of the anti-doping rules, we will fight with our hands and feet". In an interview with ORF, Luitz emphasized that he did not know that he had done something illegal: "All I can say is that we have been assured of high-level medical care, which is why we were absolutely sure that we were not breaking any rules. Nobody knew about this FIS rule ". According to WADA, in fact, from 1 January 2018 the administration of oxygen is not considered doping, however it is a violation of the rules of the FIS. The German federsci and in particular Stefan Luitz can accept the punishment or request a hearing. From a disqualification of the German, Marcel Hirscher would benefit from earning at table his 64th victory in the World Cup.
