A plot twist at the Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport, at which Stefan Luitz appealed to cancel the disqualification that had been imposed on him by the ranking of the men's giant of the World Cup in Beaver Creek.

The appeal of the German, currently injured, and his lawyers, was successful and therefore Luitz has regained his first World Cup victory, while Marcel Hirscher drops to 67 total career victories in the Cup.
All the others consequently lose a position, including the Swiss Thomas Tumler, who goes down to the lowest step of the podium, and the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, who goes out of that podium. Even Riccardo Tonetti in the top ten returns from seventh to eighth.
