Marcel Hirscher: "I want to ski having fun, not always successfully last winter"

Long interview on the website of the FIS Austrian Marcel Hirscher, who will go in the coming winter the pursuit of a fourth consecutive overall World Cup, a feat never managed to at least no one in the men's field. Here is the translation of the interview.

Q: A'' another season of great success is behind you as you celebrate and you were able to take a break before starting to prepare for next season? A.: The festivities were not spectacular. After a long season I've given a lot of importance to spend time with family, friends and girlfriend. But of course I had my holidays, a bit ' and vacation time to recharge my batteries. Q: You've said in numerous interviews that it is not a machine but the results will always positioned at the top of the charts. How do you keep up with the pace of the World Cup and what do you do to recharge your batteries from race to race? A: Stay focused on my goals is a daily work. I am in good shape and so far I have not peaked. I'm still working on the perfect curve from race to race. Q: On the "social media" often share photos of your various activities, what is your "free time favorite"? A: Most of the activities that the public are my favorites. Motocross, kayaking, slackline ... All these amuse me. And I am in the fortunate position to also mention skiing among those activities. I could put it last but not least - is a profession and a passion at the same time. Q: In your mind, when you finish a season and when it starts after that? How's it going so far training and c'' is something in particular you're focusing on for this summer? A: For me, the new season starts on the day after the finals of the World Cup. The trick to training is a good balance between hard work and fun. In recent years I have learned a lot, and now I can say I know my body very well. The objectives of the training during the summer'' are obviously top secret. ;-) Q: Is there a few months before the'' start of next season, what are your plans both on and off the slopes? A.: In general, the priority is out from the slopes: relax, hang out with friends, BBQ, beach - chill-mode. I am planning on the slopes of a new training period in South America and knowingly exploit all opportunities home for the optimal preparation. Q: Olympic medalist, world champion, three World Cups general to 25 years. What results would you add to this list in the future? A: I'm not the type who makes lists. I want to ski and have fun. This objective is already quite difficult and honestly I was not consistently achieved last season ... also should not be too easy for us rookies. ;-) Q: The last World Championships were held for you at home and the pressure was extremely high, as they will be different than those of Vail-Beaver Creek for you and are looking forward to experiencing the'' no more pressure? A: In times of internet and TV I think that the place where the World Championships are held does not matter anymore much. But perhaps it will be less evident in the United States. I'm going to find out soon. Eventually the pressure is always present in competitive sports so what I do is make sure to keep the pressure and motivation closely related. '' And of course I'm looking forward to racing at Vail-Beaver Creek.
