Marco Odermatt greets the season of its explosion: last training in Sankt Moritz and ... we look forward

The 23-year-old Swiss won 9 podiums (with three victories in two different disciplines) and finished second in the giant, super-g and general rankings. In 2021/22 it will be ready to take ... everything.

The last day of ... school, on the snows of Sankt Moritz with some teammates. Marco Odermatt greeted the 2020/21 season, that of its definitive explosion, with the last training on the snows of the Engadine, before detaching and then thinking about the preparation in view of the vintage in which to give the real assault to the World Cup, in addition to the goal of the Olympic medals. The '97 native class of the Canton of Nidwalden is now ready, to all intents and purposes, to play for that absolute crystal ball that he greeted, in fact, with the cancellation of the fast races at the Lenzerheide finals. Alexis Pinturault, dominating the final giant, then took away from him the red bib as leader of the specialty at the last race, with Odermatt finishing in second place, behind the Frenchman, both in the discipline and in the overall, as well as in super -g beaten by Vincent Kriechmayr. Odermatt's super season, albeit without the joy of a world medal (with a great descent in Cortina, 4th place which is also the best of his career, but the great disappointment of the giant and the super-g), was however full of enormous satisfactions, with 9 podiums overall (starting from the super debut in Soelden with 2nd place behind Braathen) including 3 victories. The first in giant in Santa Caterina Valfurva, the second in super-g in Saalbach giving one of the most beautiful tests seen in the specialty for a few years now, finally dominating the giant of Kranjska Gora, when it really scared Pinturault from a perspective absolute crystal ball. And now stopping the race of the red-cross phenomenon will be difficult for everyone ...
