The pain after the most beautiful joy of the career. The first success in the World Cup obtained on Saturday in the opening super-g of the 2020/21 World Cup, brought Mauro Caviezel to the stars and right in the return race after the rupture of the Achilles tendon suffered in June.
Decidedly less serious, but very annoying, the new injury remedied by the red-cross sprinter: in today's descent on the Oreiller-Killy, starting first, Caviezel hit a door in the very first part of the track, dragging a pole for hundreds of meters (remember Innerhofer in Santa Caterina Valfurva?), and even more the curtain of the door itself, partially compromising his performance, however good with the 16th place finish.
The problem is that the good Mauro, in the violent impact, broke his left index finger, as Swiss-Ski communicated in the afternoon: "I will do everything to be at the start in Val Gardena", he declared the red-cross sprinter, who on Friday on the Saslong will have to defend the red bib as a leader of the specialty. And it won't be easy at all.
