First inspection on the Saslong with a view to the 2021/22 cup. Waldner: "A great job in Val Gardena"

The referee of the men's circuit and Hannes Trinkl met the president of the organizing committee, Rainer Senoner, between budgets and projections towards the races that, on 17-18 December 2021, will again see the Gardena speed races in the World Cup.

The 2020/21 World Cup season ended just under a month ago, but the work behind the scenes for next winter is already in full swing. So it was also yesterday, when the FIS race director for the men's circuit, Markus Waldner, together with Hannes Trinkl (head of fast races), inspected the "Saslong" together with the president of the organizing committee of the Val Gardena Cup stage, Rainer Senoner, and to the track director Horst Demetz. In the meeting we first talked about the season just ended. Waldner once again thanked the Saslong Classic Club, responsible for organizing the World Cup races in Val Gardena for over five decades, for their great commitment in December 2020. The Super-G and the downhill ran smoothly in conditions of maximum safety and on a perfectly prepared track, where the Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde took home a double victory. "The races on the Saslong took place at the beginning of the season when there were still many question marks due to the Coronavirus pandemic - the words of Waldner - Rainer Senoner's team not only perfectly implemented the complex protocol of security, but also contributed significantly to its writing. Many other organizers have subsequently benefited from this work done in a very professional way ”. On this occasion, the track was also inspected, 3245 meters long with 781 meters of altitude difference, on which two speed races will again be held on Friday 17 December (super-g) and Saturday 18 December 2021 with the classic downhill. The fixed dates, the last weekend before Christmas, are blocked in the long-term calendar, but obviously they must be ratified at the FIS congress at the beginning of June when we will know the final calendars of the next World Cup.
