It was the slalom of the first times for Marco Schwarz, who also unlocked between the tight posts, after seven podiums without success, and wore that red bib that was never his in this discipline.
A race, that of Adelboden, which then brought the Carinthian and Strasser, second after the triumph in Zagreb, to the first two places in the specialty classification, with Feller (leader for only one slalom) third at -39 from his teammate and Zenhaeusern who already has to recover 80 points, even more for Kristoffersen, Noel (at -136) and company. Of course, there are still seven slalom slaloms on the calendar, of which 5 by the end of January, but perhaps Schwarz is the one who could take the reins with a minimum of continuity, in a slalom that seems "out of control".
Alex Vinatzer is ninth in the specialty cup, 11th instead in the WCSL which saw Strasser break into the top 7 in place of Alexis Pinturault, therefore forced to a bib between 8 and 15 in Wengen. Just the Frenchman, after the double in giant between Friday and Saturday, commands the general with 129 points of margin over Kilde, but the 14 points collected in the slalom are meager booty and confirm a trend, between the narrow poles, now quite clear and that therefore leaves much hope to the holder of the absolute crystal ball, now able with the four fast races between Wengen and Kitzbuehel (also because there will be no giants) to operate the new overtaking.
We will see what Marco Odermatt will combine between downhill and super-g, while Henrik Kristoffersen is increasingly distant, forced to cling to the slalom considering the disastrous performance in the giant, but returned home with a fork that weighs like a boulder on the Norwegian's hopes .
A final note on Gross and Razzoli, the two Azzurri at risk from a WCSL point of view: they are still 28th and 30th, considering a couple of absences, points will still be needed between Wengen and Kitz to avoid ending up out of thirty.
