Few talk about it, perhaps because he never won in the World Cup, collecting seven podiums and still demonstrating exceptional competitiveness and continuity, for a man who will turn 40 on 8 January.

The eternal boy from Tignes resumed skiing preparation last week, together with his teammates on the Les Deux Alpes glacier. Interviewed by colleagues from Ski Chrono, he confessed that his big career-ending dream is not the Beijing Olympics 2022, but precisely the next world championships in Cortina.
“I will prepare this season as if it were normal, also because in Europe the situation is improving and I hope all the plans can be respected. As for Cortina, I think that making a decision on the possible postponement as early as July 1st is premature and could make us regret it. A World Cup after the Olympics would lose enormously in value and, given that I believe it is a financial issue, it is up to the FIS to put their hands on the wallet and help the organizers ".
The eventual withdrawal of Clarey could also depend on this situation: “Yes, because the World Championships in Cortina motivate me a lot, I would be very disappointed if they didn't take place next February. The Olympics in China make me dream much less than the world championship appointment in a splendid location ".
The transalpine veteran called the recovery on the snow “strange, even though I had already been skiing in the first days of June. More than anything, we had to adapt to skiing after not having done the usual physical work of previous years, but we will do it in July and I think the priority was to get back on track. In Les Deux Alpes we had an excellent opportunity with all the glacier available and ideal conditions also in terms of logistics. We couldn't have asked for anything better. "
