After the news on the probable double slalom in Schladming, the background emerges on the possible distortion of the World Cup calendar in order to group multiple races of the same discipline in a single location.

"Schladming is likely to host two slaloms at night in January 2021."
The words released yesterday to ORF by Hans Grogl, chief of the organizing committee of the "night race" on the Planai, continue to be discussed since, apparently, the FIS option to move the Wengen slalom in Styria for a race bis among the rapid gates in the nighttime setting of Schladming, it was not communicated even to those directly concerned.
Interviewed by the APA agency, they say from Wengen that "you do not want to give up any of the three races on the Lauberhorn", with the option of transferring the slalom to Austria "known only to the media".
However, the background of a plan emerges, that of the International Federation, which would be essentially an anti-Covid solution to further reduce risks and have a complete CdM calendar; in essence, the FIS would like to group races of the same specialty in a single location to avoid continuous displacements to athletes and staff, therefore a double slalom in Schladming and a double descent in Wengen, for example, are a solution on the plate.
It will not be decided before the autumn congress in Zurich, also to evaluate the evolution of the pandemic, but the weekend in Wengen could undergo changes as suggested by Urs Naepflin (head of the organizing committee of the races on the Lauberhorn) at SRF, adding that "nothing has been decided on the matter". In the Bernese Oberland the program includes, from 15 to 17 January 2021, combined, descent and slalom. There are those who talk about a double descent and a super-g, but everything is very open and it cannot be excluded that in other locations there may also be changes to the race programs.
