Yet another injury in the career of the Austrian Philipp Schoerghoher who is forced to close the current season prematurely.

The Austrian federsci has announced that for about two weeks the 36 year old from Salzburgerland suffers from backache and can not train in his specialty, the giant. After detailed examinations at the Kettenbruecke clinic in Innsbruck, he was diagnosed with an acute herniated disc in the lumbar region. It should end up under the knife tomorrow.
Schoerghofer finished four times in the top ten in giant this winter, with the best result the twentieth place in Val d'isere. He had to completely skip last season because of a right knee injury. It boasts six podiums in the World Cup, including the victory at Hinterstoder on 6 February 2011.
