He surprised the white circus with a second place, just 7 cents from the triumph, in the toughest giant there is, the one on the Gran Risa.
Not even three weeks after that first podium in the World Cup on the snow of Alta Badia, Atle Lie McGrath saw his dream extinguish by falling in the first heat of the giant number 1 from Adelboden; it was January 8th and the phenomenal Norwegian talent interrupted his season on Chuenisbargli, then definitively when it was discovered, about ten days later, that the collateral injury of the left knee required surgery.
Twenty-one years old on April 21st, the son of art is back to getting serious since yesterday in the Oslo ski dome: first free-range skiing to regain confidence and already dream of next season, in which Atle will find himself at his side the "twin" Lucas Braathen, who after the breaking of the crusader (remedied on the same cursed day as Adelboden, in that case in the final of the 2nd heat) will need a few more months to recover.
And pay attention to McGrath, because between giant and slalom (he is very fast even between narrow poles, but must find greater stability) he can really explode in the year that will then lead to the Beijing Olympic Games.
