A lot of physical work and a new skiman for Zan Kranjec: "I want to climb another step"

The Slovenian gigantist will make a summer base at the Moelltaler and focus on the World Cup and the Olympics in the next two years.

There was a splendid victory in the temple of Adelboden, on that day where the remote duel with Luca De Aliprandini stopped in the middle of the second race, when the blue slipped on the right side. Zan Kranjec was one of the great protagonists of the 2019/2020 season, but a drop in the second part of the year and the cancellation of the two final giants prevented him from fighting until the end for the dream of the specialty cup, which ended in the fourth placed only 30 points from Henrik Kristoffersen. At the age of 27, the Slovenian champion reaches full maturity in a key two-year period: at the 24ur.com portal, Kranjec has confirmed that the World Cup and the Olympics represent the main objectives to try to bring home a heavy medal in his discipline. With the Austrian Moelltaler glacier chosen as a base for ski training, the gigantist born in 1992 has focused this spring on working hard on the physical plane, with the aim of putting on a few kg of muscle. "I want to level up again, but every aspect is needed to become a better athlete, including the ability to get the best out of yourself on a psychological level"; explained Zan, who after three years found himself changing the skiman. Barnaba Greppi, in fact, has passed to the court of Sofia Goggia and Kranjec will have another professional of some experience as Lojze Debelak as a trusted man, alongside Frida Hansdotter for many years before the withdrawal of the Olympic slalom champion. And the trainer Mitja Bracic has confirmed that he is dealing with an athlete already in great shape: in a test of June 1, the values of Kranjec were much better than last year.
