The Italian reactions after the first descent in Val Gardena: the top ten is still missing from Italjet, but the South Tyrolean competes in another important race. Domme in crisis, for the specialty cup it seems already over.

Another black day, or almost so, for the Italjet men who lack a placement in the top ten even in the first of their home races, however historically anything but friends, namely the shortened descent on the Saslong.
The "almost" refers to Florian Schieder, the only light in Val Gardena for the national team: 13th place, with bib number 55 (today irrelevant, given that the track was truly perfect up to the last starter), is the best career placement improved for the young South Tyrolean, who had stopped at the World Cup in Cortina with a broken crusader, after having already amazed everyone in Kitzbuehel.
A season lost behind us, the return at the beginning of this 2022/23 immediately with good sensations in the North American races, then the double 4th place in the super-g of the European Cup in Santa Caterina Valfurva and now this great descent. Schieder smiles, Paris is simply black for another disastrous day: the 40th place finish, 1"25 behind Kriechmayr, is even worse than expected on a track that Domme certainly doesn''t like, but it's another confirmation after the very complicated Lake Louise and Beaver Creek races. With 11 points collected so far in 3 outings, while Kilde leads with 245 and Odermatt follows him at 220, even though there are still nine descents to go, the specialty World Cup dream seems to have vanished even before entering the heart of the season .
If the champion from Val d'Ultimo does not speak in the post, Christof Innerhofer analyzes his 23rd place today, again through the federal press office: "I couldn't wait to leave, it was a sprint race that it was fun even if the start was lowered. Finally Guglielmo Bosca, 25th (he was in the top ten area up to the last intermediate, ed): “I got off to a good start in the upper part, I defended myself on the Ciaslat but I went out perhaps with little speed, a factor that cost me a few tenths too much. Starting from behind it's never easy to grasp the result, I'm finally finding some continuity, it's something I've been looking for for a long time”.
