The Frenchman, one of the best specialists in a discipline that we will not see in the 2020/21 CdM due to Covid, spoke to Ski Chrono about the topic, projecting himself towards the upcoming season.

The disappearance of the Alpine combined from the calendar of the next World Cup certainly did not please the two best French performers (and for continuity also at an absolute level), namely Alexis Pinturault and Victor Muffat-Jeandet.
The latter talked about it with the usual frankness to his colleagues at Ski Chrono, he already Olympic bronze in the specialty at PyeongChang 2018 and able to obtain the only success in CdM in the combined Wengen 2018, and then get on the podium also in the last two editions of the race on the Lauberhorn which, this year, will not be like the others originally planned with the exception of the world test in Cortina. “I consider it a hypocritical decision - the words of Muffat-Jeandet on the matter - because you want to keep the athletes of different disciplines divided as much as possible, then a parallel is made between men and women like that of Lech.
For me there will still be many other opportunities competing in slalom and giant, as well as obviously the World Championships which are a great goal. The bubble? I think it will work, as we saw at the Tour de France or for the F1 and MotoGP world championships. I think it is also the only way to guarantee everyone's safety and, first of all, I will adapt to everything to compete ”.
On the summer preparations, VMJ says he is very satisfied: “The routine has changed and it has been good, even the missed trip to South America was not a problem after all. The conditions on our glaciers were excellent, the weather gave us a good hand and we were able to carry out many tests ”.
The 31-year-old transalpine says he is “ambitious considering the work done, already in Soelden I think I will finish well, but we will certainly not play everything in that race. It will be possible to evolve in the following period, with a lot of time ahead before the technical races in December (starting from the two giants in Val d''Isère on December 5-6, ed). After training in Saas-Fee, now the program will depend on the weather as the period is not easy, but after the physical work in Albertville, we should be able to do 4-5 days of quality on the track before Soelden ”.
Finally, a joke about the absence of an audience in most of the races scheduled for 2020/21: "The icing on the cake will be missing, but the emotions of a great result will remain, if I think of what I experienced in Korea even in front of a few dozen people . We obviously hope to return to normal soon ”.
