New skiman, new preparation and many goals, with the two-year period between the World Championships in Cortina 2021 and the Beijing 2022 Olympics on the horizon at the best moment of their career.
At 27, Zan Kranjec aims to the maximum in a specialty such as the giant where he is now an absolute reference, even if he has not managed to win a cup that seemed within his reach, in particular after the second triumph of his career in the Adelboden temple and the red bib lost only between the final races of Yuzawa-Naeba and Hinterstoder.
The Slovenian champion has returned on skis to the Moelltaler, the Austrian glacier that hosted him in June and where he will return soon, once the August block in Saas-Fee has been completed; in Switzerland, Kranjec has also dedicated himself to slalom, a discipline where he obtained two eleventh places in the 2018/19 vintage, in Campiglio and Schladming, while last season he finished 21st in Levi and 19th in Zagreb. It is difficult to think of being able to reach the top among the rapid gates, but training in two specialties is also important for the giant, where he will be one of the men to beat.
