The athletes of the Alto Adige committee dominated the scene on the second and last day of the national selections of the Alpe Cimbra FIS Children Cup, collecting three successes and six medals in total. Jakob Franzelin, Nadine Trocker and Lara Colturi scored their second success in two days, with La Villa under 14 David Castlunger completing the winning quartet.
The only one able to break the South Tyrolean domination was Lara Colturi. The daughter of the Olympic champion Daniela Ceccarelli, who last year won a gold and a bronze in the international under 14 competitions, signed the double in the under 16 category: after winning on Monday in slalom, the young Piedmontese repeated herself between the doors large by giant traced on the Salizzona slope. Second at the end of the first heat, 27 cents from the Aosta Valley Giorgia Collomb, Colturi managed to overtake the direct competitor to win in the decisive descent, preceding her by 71 cents.
Third at 97 cents the standard bearer of the Chamolé Ski Club, Francine Rollet, who preceded the best athlete of the Trentino committee, Ludovica Righi of the Edelweiss Ski Club, fourth at just 9 cents from the medal area.
In the other races it was a South Tyrolean monologue. In the male under 16 giant, the 2005 class Jakob Franzelin confirmed his leadership in the category. The slalom winner also found an excellent feeling on the Salizzona slope and built his success in the first heat, then good at maintaining the right concentration in the decisive run. In the calculation of the two heats, the bishop of the Monte San Pietro Ski Club preceded Edoardo Baldo of the Cortina Ski Club by 85 cents and Lorenzo Gerosa of the Radici Group Ski Club by 1 "30, third with just 7 cents of margin over the Trentino Andrea Armari (Sporting Club Campiglio).
In the women's under 14 slalom, held on the Agonistic track, South Tyrol even scored a hat-trick. On the top step of the podium, for the second consecutive day, Nadine Trocker climbed, giving birth to an exciting family challenge with her sister Anna, who is a year younger. First and second halfway through the race, the two sisters registered for the Ski Team Seiser Alm finished in the same order also in the final classification, separated by 17 cents from each other. For the very young Anna, in the first year in the category, there was the joy of the best time in the second heat, with applause on the steep of the Agonistica.
To complete the South Tyrolean party was Hanna Hofer, who thanks to a good comeback managed to jump to the lowest step of the podium, however 1 ”70 behind the winner. Fourth Nicole Mattioli of Fassactive, the best of the Trentino in the race.
South Tyrolean double also in the men's under 14 slalom. The winning brush strokes were those of David Castlunger (Ski Team Alta Badia). The badiota from La Villa, already second on Monday in the giant, fought the victory with Alex Silbernagl. Castlunger set the best time in the first heat, Silbernagl in the second: the two wore the gold and silver medals respectively, spaced just 6 cents in the standings. Third and fourth are two athletes registered with the Trentino committee: Luca Loranzi, from Rendena of Sporting Club Campiglio, climbed on the podium, 1 ”62 behind Castlunger. Fourth (at 2 ”06) Matteo Massarenti of the Edelweiss Ski Club.
At the end of the last races of the national selections, the names of the athletes who will defend the colors of Italy in international competitions have been made official. Tomorrow, Wednesday 27 January, starting at 1 pm there will be the team event on the Salizzona slope. Giant slalom and special slalom races on Friday and Saturday.
In the ranking for Fisi Committees of the two days, Alto Adige triumphs with 1534 points, ahead of Valle d'Aosta with 786 and Central Alps with 755. Fourth place for the Western Alps with 731 points, fifth for Trentino with 669.
THE BLUE SELECTION
At the end of the two days of the 51st Trofeo Cassa Rurale Vallagarina, the coordinator of the Fisi youth sector Alexander Prosch made official the composition of the two teams that will represent Italy at the international stage of the 50th edition of the Alpe Cimbra FIS Children Cup, thus like the two teams that will be engaged on Wednesday 27 January in the Team Event.
