There will also be Norway, in the fight that becomes four to win the 2027 edition of the Alpine Ski World Championships.
The Narvik city council, in fact, in the past few hours approved the ok to advance the official candidacy to the FIS, for the world championship event that will be assigned in May 2022 and to which Crans-Montana, Garmisch are already "registered" -Partenkirchen and Andorra.
Narvik recently hosted the junior world championships, right in March 2020 when the outbreak of the pandemic forced the organizers to interrupt the review before the technical competitions. Norway can dream, at this point, of returning to host the World Cup 75 years after Oslo 1952, when the Olympic edition was also valid for the awarding of world medals.
The last big event, on the other hand, dates back to Lillehammer with those wonderful 1994 Olympic Games; Narvik beat domestic competition from Hafjell / Kvitfjell (who hosted the World Cup finals in 2003 and want those in 2025). It remains to wait for the green light from the central government in Oslo for the necessary financial guarantees, with an overall budget calculated around 27 million euros.
