The World Cup rankings after the first slalom in Flachau: Feller again in red with 1 point on Schwarz, Vinatzer moves away from the top 7 of the WCSL.

It was the great day of Austria, once again dominant in a slalom without masters, but which now sees the two peaks of the Wunderteam between the narrow poles, namely Manuel Feller and Marco Schwarz (first and third in the Flachau slalom), in front to all in the specialty ranking (after 5 races out of 11 in total) and divided by a single point.
It was, however, above all the day of the serious injury that occurred to the one who could still be considered the main favorite for an encore in the general classification of the World Cup: Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, after the crusader crash of his right knee suffered in a training of super-g, is out of the game and at this point the road seems to be really open for Alexis Pinturault, who among other things today also obtained a decent 9th place in slalom, after many difficult races in this specialty.
Of course, Marco Odermatt is just over 200 points behind the Frenchman, but he doesn't seem to have many cards at his disposal to attempt the comeback, unless he is already able to unleash himself from the fast races in Kitzbuehel. Pinturault's opponent could and should have been another Norwegian, but Henrik Kristoffersen's crisis is now really deep and the gap from the top is ever wider, while in the slalom cup perspective the possibility that HK94 may fight for that cannot be excluded. which would be his third crystal ball, as would Clément Noel, who is 117 points behind Feller, after taking home his first podium of the season today.
Looking at the slalom WCSL instead, you can see how Manuel Feller, albeit with a red bib, is still out of the first sub-group by only 8 points in favor of Strasser (and today's winner drew bib 15 for the second slalom of Flachau), while Alex Vinatzer is 12th and in the “heart” of the second sub-group, but now he has to recover a lot of ground to aim for that top 7 which was now very close after the two great races in Badia and Campiglio.
