Having completed perhaps the most demanding season in its history a few weeks ago, the Trentino Committee of the Fisi is ready to restart in view of the next sporting winter, but above all with a view to the Milan-Cortina (and also Trentino) Olympics in 2026, trying to scrupulously take care of the most talented young skiers of the 12 disciplines that are practiced on the slopes of the province.
A new competitive path with a revised technical staff, which will make available to young skiers coaches of great international experience, presented today at Maso Martis in Martignano di Trento in the presence of the provincial councilor for crafts, trade, promotion , sport and tourism, Roberto Failoni. “That of winter sports - highlighted the councilor - is a strategic movement for our Province, with a social and organizational value, especially in view of the Italian Olympics.
Precisely for this reason we will shortly renew the Trentino Azzurro project, born in 2011, with Fisi del Trentino. Another objective will then be to work with the school to facilitate sports students ”.
The Fisi of Trentino, therefore, restarts, after a winter 2020/2021, which despite the pandemic took place almost entirely, given that 92% of the races on the calendar were held. And the results were no less with 33 athletes summoned to the world championships between absolute and juniors, but also nationally with 142 medals obtained in the specialty tricolors. And to start again, the president of Fisi, Tiziano Mellarini, has decided to entrust the keys of the two most important disciplines to two coaches with an international pedrigree, namely Matteo Guadagnini from predazzano in alpine skiing and Giuseppe “Sepp” Chenetti from Moenese in cross-country skiing.
Both have already collaborated with the Trentino Committee: Guadagnini technically started the Trentino Azzurro Project from 2011 to 2016 (before the adventure with the women's national team and the slalom group that he led until the end of the last season), while Chenetti from three years he is a technical consultant for the provincial Federsci. Two coaches who together boast 8 appearances at the Olympic Games and 18 appearances at the World Championships, following athletes such as Kristian Ghedina, Max Blardone, Davide Simoncelli, Sofia Goggia, Federica Brignone, Marta Bassino in alpine skiing, Cristian Zorzi, Pietro Piller Cottrer, Giorgio Di Centa, Fulvio Valbusa and Federico Pellegrino in cross-country skiing.
A first-rate experience to be replicated on the most promising young people of Trentino, with the aim of developing organization, attitude and mentality both in training and in competition, also seeking a sharing with the ski clubs to activate a unique working methodology . President Mellarini, together with the Regional Council and the specialty commissions, have therefore renewed the technical staff of the various specialties, contracting a total of 32 coaches. The sector that has undergone the most important change is that of alpine skiing, which will be led by Matteo Guadagnini and will have as coaches Enrico Vicenzi (Trentino technical director in recent seasons) and Davide Marchetti (also with Guadagnini at work with slalom girls until a few months ago) who will follow the men's team.
Marchetti will also be the athletic trainer of both teams, while the women's team will be followed by Rudj Redolfi, a man with many years of experience in the junior categories in the Campigliani ski clubs. Michele Bertoldi confirmed in the role of coordinator of the children sector.
The staff of the cross-country skiing sector will see a change of the technical director, with Giuseppe Chenetti taking over from Stefano Corradini (after more than five years with Fisi Trentino), while the zonal coaches are confirmed: Marco Baldo, Marcello Bosin, Matteo Betta, Fernando Pedergnana and Nicolò Orler. Confirmations also in the Nordic jumping and combined with technical director Andrea Bezzi and contact coach Walter Cogoli, as well as in biathlon which will always have Marco Zanon as the responsible coach, and also in skicross with Loris Donei and Dario Dellantonio as technical consultant.
The invincible couple in ski mountaineering has also been validated, with Rino Pedergnana and Franco Nicolini, while the sled will continue with the trainers Simone Scalet for the natural track and Corrado Lucian for the sled on the artificial track. In the snowboard sector there is a new entry for the speed sector, namely the young Alessandro Cloch from Fassa who will undertake to relaunch the specialty in the Fiemme and Fassa valleys, and will work alongside Igor Confortin.
The freestyle group will always be followed by Stefano Benchimol. In the two summer disciplines of grass skiing and roller skis remain Roberto Parisi, back with his athletes from exciting results in the World Cup and in the national competitions of the Talente Verde circuit in recent weeks, and the athlete trainer of the roller ski Alessio Berlanda. The technical staff together with the specialty commissions and the Fisi Regional Council, in the coming days, will also formalize the composition of the competitive teams for the next 2021/2022 season.
