The continental circuit at the start with the two giants of Gurgl; from Franzoni to Taranzano, up to the athletes already in World Cup orbit, Italy will present itself with good cards. The women will start on December 5-6 in Hippach.

Many postponements, cancellations and doubts, but the week that is about to begin will finally see the 2020/21 European Cup kick off.
Austria will host a reorganized opening in a few days, after the renunciation of all the Scandinavian stages and also that of Reiteralm, which had chosen to host the first races in addition to the March finals already scheduled. The Tyrolean district of Gurgl will stage the inaugural giants on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 December with the men involved in an event that for some will also represent the ideal opportunity as a test before the World Cup races of the same discipline , scheduled for December 5-6 in Santa Caterina Valfurva.
The women, on the other hand, will start from Hippach, also in Tyrol, with two giants scheduled for 5-6 December, in the same days as the super-g of CdM in Sankt Moritz (in this case the concomitance is not exactly ideal).
Returning to the men's sector that will kick off the continental circuit, Italy will certainly present itself with good cards to play; there are many young people coming out of the “Talent Team”, already seen in action in the national opening in Solda, which we will see in Gurgl and also in the subsequent stage of Zinal (7-9 December with super-g, combined and giant). Perhaps the most awaited name is that of Giovanni Franzoni, given that the 2001 class from Brescia has already been a great protagonist in the European Cup in the final of last season, in particular with the 2nd place in combined and 4th in super-g in the triptych of Sella Nevea.
With the talent in force at the Fiamme Gialle, Luca Taranzano will certainly also be there, as the Friuli Venezia Giulia FISI committee has already made official; the 22-year-old from Ski CAI Monte Lussari did very well in Solda, 4th in the second giant and immediately behind Franzoni himself and Stefano Baruffaldi, the latter returning from his return to CdM in Soelden.
