If the World Cup is saved for now, with the races of Levi and Lech for the restart after Soelden, the European Cup will have to wait a long time before even starting.
There is really no peace for the second most important circuit, in this crazy 2020/21 season: today's news is also the cancellation of the "new" opening, that is the male giants rescheduled in Reiteralm for 29-30 November. There is no snow in the Styrian town which, in the middle of winter, is the training destination of many World Cup greats, first of all Pinturault and Kristoffersen (as well as Marcel Hirscher's “home” for many years).
After the cancellation of all the Scandinavian races, in that case due to the situation linked to Covid, between Gaellivare, Funesdalen and Trysil, in addition to the Italian stages of Livigno and Obereggen in mid-December, here's another blow; the Styrian district will also have to host the March finals, already skipped last March due to the epidemiological emergency.
The new start of the European Cup, but also in this case the races are at risk due to lack of snow (albeit with optimistic forecasts for the next few days), is therefore expected from 7-9 December in that of Zinal, with super-g, combined and giant at the male level, as well as in Switzerland here are the first two women's races, the super-g of Sankt Moritz on 8-9 December, before the calendar takes us towards the block of Italian races, starting with men in that of Santa Caterina Valfurva, with the women then engaged in the descents to Passo San Pellegrino, in Val di Fassa.
