Marcel Hirscher's future on ... TV: will present a program related to tourism in Austria

The Salzburg-born champion will work for ORF: on 21 May the adventure begins. "I face a new challenge, I do it in a difficult moment for everyone".

He has always been reluctant to the spotlight and, since the day of his retirement from the competition announced on September 4, 2019, Marcel Hirscher had rarely seen himself at public events. Now, after writing his biography (in the coming months also available in Italian), the winner of eight consecutive World Cups has decided to land on ... TV. Not like the former colleague and friend Felix Neureuther as technical commentator, but as the presenter of a tourism-related program, broadcast on ORF, "A summer in Austria - White and red holidays". As ORF-2 channel manager Alexander Hofer explains, “the idea of using Marcel Hirscher's presence and authenticity even after retiring had already matured since last year. I am very happy that it worked and Marcel accepted with great enthusiasm, I am sure he will transmit a lot of fun to the public ". “Traveling has been part of my daily work for years - explained Hirscher once the agreement was formalized - and now that I have more free time I can really look at what surrounds me. When ORF proposed this program to me, I decided to face this new challenge that comes at a difficult time for everyone. I will be in video the usual Marcel, that is curious, open to new things in life and ready to learn ".
