After Courchevel Méribel 2023 and Saalbach 2025, the 2027 Alpine Ski World Championships will also be held in Europe. The third candidate, after Crans-Montana and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, defeated by the confrontation with the Austrian town for the appointment of 2025, is in fact the Principality of Andorra.
As already announced for some time, the will was to try also for the world championship event, after hosting the first women's World Cup races, then the finals of the maximum circuit in 2019 and those of March 2023. It would be a historic first time for the town nestled in the Eastern Pyrenees, with the Grandvalira district at the center of the project.
The tracks would always be those of Soldeu El Tarter; the decision of the FIS will come in May 2022, on the occasion of the traditional spring congress of the International Federation, scheduled in Vilamoura, Portugal.
