In Argentina and Chile never so much snow in recent years, but the national teams cannot move

Everything blocked at least until September: the situation linked to the pandemic will almost certainly prevent all World Cup athletes from traveling to South America, even if there is little hope left.

The reorganization has already started for months, with the largest national teams in the European panorama engaged on the alpine glaciers (in the case of the Swedes and the Norwegians also on the home mountains, which offered very good conditions), having understood for some time that skiing this summer -autumn in South America would have been very complicated. The mockery is that the amount of snow between Argentina and Chile is at levels that have not been seen for years, from Ushuaia to Corralco, where the current snow cover is close to 4 meters. All the ski areas of the two countries are closed and at least until 1st September there are no hopes of opening for athletes from abroad; Las Lenas has already announced that there will be no activity throughout the Argentine winter, in Portillo instead there is talk of a postponement of the opening indefinitely. Some little hope of being able to work in the autumn still exists, but there is the risk of getting too close to the start of the World Cup, scheduled for 24-25 October in Soelden.
