The International Federation has announced the immediate termination of the relationship and approved economic support to organizers and federations for the damage caused by Covid.

Today's FIS House Council discussed a number of important points on the agenda, having already approved the various World Cup calendars last week.
The novelty, in some ways sensational also considering the methods of communication, is the immediate farewell to Secretary General Sarah Lewis, for whom in recent months there was also rumor of the desire to run for the FIS presidency. "On the basis of a complete loss of confidence - reads the very harsh note issued by the International Federation - it was decided by a large majority that Sarah Lewis will no longer exercise the role of Secretary General of the FIS as of 9 October 2020".
FIS which approved the financial contribution in support of the organizers of the World Cup stages and the federations involved, for the costs to be incurred and the lost revenues deriving from the Covid situation; measurable contribution, for the additional health measures to be implemented, in 20% of the cash prize for the respective discipline in relation to the contested CdM competition, with a maximum total that would reach the figure of 4.4 million francs.
The deadline for submitting applications for the world championships of the various disciplines in the years 2026 and 2027 has been postponed to 1 October 2021, while the Nordic skiing event for the junior category has been moved from 2021 to 2022 in that of Zakopana, rescheduling the World Championships between Pragelato for cross-country skiing and Lahti for jumping and Nordic combined. The 2020 jr snowboard world championships have been moved from March to December in Lachtal (Austria).
As announced, the ban on the use of fluorinated waxes has been postponed for one season, with implementation from 1 July 2021, given that the delays caused by the Covid emergency prevented the FIS from organizing itself with the necessary devices for fluorine detection. The next FIS Congress will be held from 30 May to 5 June 2021, as previously announced, in Portoroz (Slovenia); on that occasion, on June 4, there will be the awaited election of the new Council and the President who will lead the International Federation after Gian Franco Kasper.
