Yesterday it was official that the World Cup will start on 17-18 October, but the protocols will be made official only in the next few weeks, with the relative sale of tickets. Situation still open for the North American races.

The advance of the Soelden opening is the news of the skiing summer, even if it could be just the first of several news related to the 2020/21 World Cup, clearly conditioned by the Coronavirus situation.
On Wednesday, first of all by the Austrian federation itself and then by the FIS itself in the evening, the choice to have the two giants compete on the Rettenbach on the weekend of 17-18 October, instead of the following Saturday and Sunday. An option, as already explained, which thus gives the possibility of optimally managing the entire organizational machine that will have to guarantee the necessary isolation to the national teams, while at the same time being able to open to the public to witness what has always been the big opening party of the season, with 30-40 thousand people on the Oetztal glacier.
Numbers that we will be able to forget for this year, given that a reduction in the number of spectators has already been announced compared to the maximum capacity; in this sense, only in the coming weeks will the guidelines and the related ticket sales be made known, both for the female giant on Saturday 17 (heats at 10 and 13) and for the male one on the following day (same times).
Beyond the opening, the FIS will have to sail on sight even practically for the entire cup calendar; if there should be no problems for the weekend dedicated to the parallel, scheduled for mid-November in Lech-Zuers, and also for the Levi slalom the following week, the situation regarding the North American races remains open, from the technical tests in Killington to the fast races of Lake Louise for the women's sector, to the Canadian away-going of the jet men at the end of November and the following long weekend in Beaver Creek.
We could find out more about it before the FIS autumn congress, which will only be staged via video conference in early October.
