The FIS has ratified an important variation (which will now go to the council). And the qualification will bring only 16 athletes to the final phase.

You will remember the controversy that broke out in particular in Sestriere and Chamonix, in those two parallel giants, obviously conditioned by the draw tied to the track for the dry heats that would have been decisive in the final phase of those races.
Well, "having listened in particular to the opinion of the athletes", as confirmed by the FIS in a press release that talks about the change in the format of the parallel, finally changes in this direction with the double race scheduled from the beginning until the end of the final phase, obviously for both the PGS and the PSL that will be played starting next season.
To stay within the TV times (about 1h20 '' for each race), it was therefore decided to remove one round, that of the round of 32 (the only one that so far was held with the two runs), starting directly from the round of 16 and with only 16 athletes competing in the decisive phase. Ergo, the qualification will be much more selective and will carry forward half of the protagonists compared to the 32 of the past season, with a "cut" of at least 40-45 athletes (depending of course on the number of members, usually around sixty) and the double heats with sum of times to qualify.
At that point, direct elimination from the first knockout class and, hopefully, some less controversy ...
