This is the mission of the two captains of France, in view of the most awaited weekend for the French national team, that is giant and men's slalom expected on Saturday and Sunday in Val d''Isère, on the wonder of the Face de Bellevarde.
The Equipe de France has issued the convocations: six men will compete in giant, with Pinturault back from the Sunday flop in Beaver Creek (17th after the victory of Soelden and also the 4th place in the super-g on the Birds of Prey) and eager to take another victory on a track that saw him triumph in 2016 and 2017, before 4th place twelve months ago. The Savoyard, among other things, on the "Face" won the first of his two slalom in the World Cup on December 8th 2012.
Alongside the wide doors, there will be Mathieu Faivre, who won his only race in Val d''Isère (but competed on the Oreiller-Killy) and is currently second in the specialty rankings after two tests, a Victor Muffat- Jeandet back from the great 5th place of Beaver Creek, Cyprien Sarrazin (author of a great comeback in Colorado, from the 30th to the 13th final position), Thibaut Favrot and Remy Falgoux.
For the Sunday slalom (canceled last year) seven athletes at the start: guide Clément Noel, who seeks the fourth pearl in CdM and the first on the house snows, with Pinturault who will have to cancel Levi's “zeroâ€, the eternal Lizeroux and Grange (trained on the Face in the last few days with the same Noel and the Azzurri), Muffat-Jeandet and two elements with good results in the European Cup, Robin Buffet, winner today of the Santa Caterina Valfurva combination, and the young Baptiste Alliot Lugaz .
Only four women are called for the World Cup weekend in Sankt Moritz: the news is that on Saturday in super-g we will see Tessa Worley engaged in speed, now completely recovered from the knee operation last spring, which is thus joins the veterans of the Lake Louise weekend, namely Romane Miradoli, Jennifer Piot and Laura Gauche. For the parallel slalom on Sunday, it will also be decided based on the results of the European Cup races planned, again in the Engadine, Tuesday and Wednesday.
