Few surprises in Italy, in the calls for the stages of the World Cup next weekend.
The girls will be busy (weather permitting, considering the forecasts) in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with the first test already scheduled for Thursday towards the Saturday descent, followed on Sunday by the super-g on the “Kandahar”. Eight athletes with the trio formed by Goggia (second in Bavaria four times), Bassino and Brignone (2nd in last year's downhill), as well as Elena Curtoni, Nadia Delago, Francesca Marsaglia, Roberta Melesi and Laura Pirovano. Verena Gasslitter will not be present, who is continuing her rehabilitation after the contusion remedied ten days ago in the European Cup in Crans-Montana.
Saturday and Sunday, another double men's slalom in Chamonix: there will be a change compared to Schladming, with Federico Liberatore out due to the back pain that already yesterday forced him to forfeit the "night race", and the return between the narrow poles of Riccardo Tonetti. Manfred Moelgg, Alex Vinatzer, Tommaso Sala, Simon Maurberger, Stefano Gross, Giuliano Razzoli and Tobias Kastlunger are here with the player from Bolzano, with the decisive selection to snatch a world pass for Cortina.
Five Italian triumphs in the French town, albeit dated: Gustavo Thoeni in 1975, Alberto Tomba in 1994, Angelo Weiss in 2000 and Giorgio Rocca in 2004 and 2005.
