"Montagnedoc Prize", Piedmont chooses Deflorian and Petrulli as coach and skiman of the year

The traditional recognition at the regional level has seen two key figures exalted for the explosion of Marta Bassino.

The 2021 edition of the “Gli Coachatori - Premio Montagnedoc” event was held on 12 July in the Cascina Marchesa premises in Turin, conceived to celebrate the best Piedmontese coaches and skimans. The awarding of the prize was an important reason for meeting and discussion organized by the Montagnedoc group, which includes institutions, associations and bodies involved in the protection of the mountain system. The central theme of this year was the management of the infrastructural system of transport and ski lifts which, in Italy and in particular in Piedmont, has shown some weaknesses. The critical analysis of the state of the art, the comparative study of management systems at an international level, the evaluation of problems and future development strategies were the themes at the center of the debate. There is an increasing need for the mountain to equip itself with a public structure for the transport system and ski lifts and to equip itself with an adequate management model. In this regard, ideas and hypotheses have emerged on possible strategies, already consolidated in other nations, to define a governance model in which all the economic categories that make up the mountain system are represented. The need for new and constant investments to modernize transport, reduce the environmental impact and encourage a significant tourist presence in both summer and winter was at the center of the debate. The speakers and coordinators reiterated in their conclusions the need to give continuity to the path of study and transformation and to bring out proposals that could become regional and national laws. The success of the initiative was consolidated thanks to the authoritative presence of participants who gave life to an important path of analysis and comparison as well as the elaboration of intervention proposals. The contribution of technicians and masters, often also managers of plants and accommodation facilities, who take into account the discontinuity and limitations of services in support of tourism, is very significant. The conclusions of the conference were entrusted to Ivo Ferriani, member of the IOC and world president of the winter sports federations. The contribution of the sponsors was fundamental to ensure an adequate communication plan and direct streaming on social channels, all supported by the media partners of Montagnedoc, by the press agencies and in particular by the TGR of the Rai-editorial staff of Turin which allowed a wide dissemination and awareness of the issues under discussion. The prizes up for grabs this year were awarded by the councilor Maurizio Marrone representing the Piedmont Region, who offered the plates and fine wines delivered to the winners. The absolute first prize for the Coaches category was awarded to Paolo Deflorian, coach of the women's national team and coach of the world champion Marta Bassino, among others. Another guardian angel of the 25-year-old from Borgo San Dalmazzo, or Gianluca Petrulli, won the prize for the skiman of the year. And then the special award for Gianluca Rulfi, technical director of the women's national team, but also the "Valerio Arri award" to the character of the year, the former Azzurri Barbara Merlin, current president of the Ski Club Sauze d''Oulx, and special awards to Vittorio Boggian, Andrea Viano and Simone Del Dio, who for years has successfully led the slalomists of the French national team.
