Towards the revolution, the "Kronen Zeitung" anticipates: there will be the same number of technical and fast races

For the 2021/22 season, the FIS has finally decided to have 9 races for each classic discipline, confirming the exclusion of combined and parallel. Markus Waldner's words.

An important anticipation, that of the "Kronen Zeitung" arrived in the past. We are moving towards a 2021/22 World Cup with the same number of technical and fast races, as required by most athletes and not only, given the substantial difference (even 5-6 tests per season) in favor of giant and slalom (although there are certainly not many who can get on the podium in both disciplines), especially in the men's sector. And so, as reported by the Austrian newspaper, already next Sunday we will discuss the calendar proposed by Markus Waldner himself, referee of the men's circuit, awaiting ratification in June with the awaited approval of the nations involved, or the last obstacle to overcome (and there will be discussions ...). The rumors would thus be confirmed according to which, even in the Olympic year we will not see combined and parallel (in the second case, only one was disputed in Lech / Zuers last November), with 9 races for each specialty, 18 techniques and 18 fast, the same choice that should be taken for the women's circuit, even if in this case the imbalance between the disciplines has always been less marked in recent years. “There has been strong criticism from the sprinters in particular - the words of Markus Waldner himself - I am no longer ready to close my eyes and ears in the face of this situation”.
