Italy always protagonist in grass skiing, even in the FIS races of the Jasenska Dolina stage, in Slovakia, which have already been decisive for the assignment of the junior World Cup, which ended up again in the hands of Filippo Zamboni.
Going in order, on Saturday there were four super-giants - two men and two women - who saw the Azzurri on the podium on both occasions among the men. In the first race it was Filippo Zamboni who hoisted himself on the lowest step of the podium, reaching 42 cents from the winner, the Austrian Roland Schoegl first in 32 ”66 in front of compatriot Leopold Schoen, 0” 19 from his teammate.
Fourth place for Daniele Buio, followed by Nicolò Schiavetti sixth and Michael Bertagno tenth. Out of the top ten in Italy, Nathan Seganti 11th, Nicolò Pettini 15th and Otto Pasini 17th.
In the afternoon race the lead positions were reversed, with Schoen securing the lead in 33 ”16 and Schoegl chasing 28 cents. Third place for Buio at 0 ”75, overtaking Zamboni, fourth, by just one cent. Nicolò Schiavetti also finished in the top ten seventh, Michael Bertagno eighth and Nicolò Pettini tenth with Nathan Seganti in 12th place and Otto Pasini 14th.
In women, domination by the Czech Republic who, in the super-g of the morning, brought home the double signed by Eliska Rejchrtova - first in 34 ”92 - and Aneta Kornytova, second at 4 cents. Third was the Austrian Lara Teynor at 0 ”34 while Federica Milesi was classified in 11th position, with Chiara Milesi not finishing the test. In the afternoon, Rejchrtova conceded an encore with a time of 35 ”28, followed by Teynor at 94 cents and the Slovak Nikola Fricova at 1” 12. Seventh place for Federica Milesi, Chiara Milesi did not take part in the race instead.
The supergiants were also valid for the Youth World Cup rankings, where Zamboni took second place in both races, while Schiavetti finished third in the first supergiant. On Sunday the first overall youth title was awarded; with four races to go - those of the junior world championships in Neudorf - Filippo Zamboni himself, thanks to his third place in the spectacular slalom sprint, mathematically won the junior world cup for the second consecutive year.
The Campigliano took the title with 800 points overall, a good 420 ahead of the second classified, the other blue Nicolò Schiavetti. Overall, the Italian team's performance was fair. After the third place of the supergiant, Daniele Buio finished second by 4 cents, behind the Czech champion Martin Bartak. In the top ten also Nicolò Schiavetti, fifth. Another good test for the young Nathan Seganti, again twelfth.
