A dream national team of roller skis, driven by the brace of two very young girls, who today in Madona wrote a little big page of this discipline for Italy.
In the Latvian town there are two victories, after that of Emanuele Becchis in the Sprint last night, with very important meanings. In the case of Anna Maria Ghiddi, we are talking about a junior world title (and consequent victory in the race valid for the CdM) which is added to the silver and bronze of recent days.
The seventeen-year-old Emilian, registered for the Olympic Lama, climbed to the top step of the podium in the mass start in free technique, disputed over 15 km, in a very tactical race decided in the last km, with Ghiddi who burned the Kazakh couple formed by Mariya Gerachshenko (3 "5 behind) and Yelizaveta Tolmachyova (third at 9" 9). Sixth position for the other blue present, Laura Mortagna, 27 ”7 behind.
The race, as mentioned, also assigned points for the World Cup in the category, which sees the blue consolidate its advantage in first place with 585 points, on the eve of the finals in Rieti scheduled for the weekend of 9-11 September .
Here then comes another medal from the blue juniors, after Ghiddi's trio, the gold of Sabrina Borettaz and the bronze of Aksel Artusi, with the third place in the men's 20 km thanks to Giovanni Lorenzetti. The 22-year-old from Cuneo of the Ski Club Alpi Marittime Entraque-Valdieri, thus took the first victory of her career at these levels, giving life to an exciting duel with Jackeline Lockener and the hostess Kitija Auzina, weakening their resistance in view of the finish line, with 13 "8 of margin on the Swedish and 37" 8 on the Latvian.
In this way Sordello consolidated the second position in the overall cup standings, behind the Swedish Linn Soemskar, absent in Madona and expected at the finals in Rieti.
